Who: Some mage and anyone unfortunate enough to be nearby
What: ANGERRRR
When: Sometime in october
Where: A perfectly normal human world, with a weird magical barrier that might lead to a place with monsters and bad skeleton puns WHO KNOWS ITS IMPENETRABLE
Warnings: Possible smut?
[Three days. Three ruddy days of trying to figure out how to break through the one magical barrier in this entire place that he could sense, and nothing. No gate out of here, teleportation magic is shot, and the only interesting thing to do was right out of his reach. The place didn't even have anything unusually occulty, just whisperings of wars with monsters forever and a half ago.]
[It's enough to drive a mage to being very, very annoyed, which is why he's wandering the town in a huff. His outlandish cloak is attracting stares, and his constant craning of his head to try to sense a gate somewhere.]
[Ed is a very patient person, but he's starting to get bored... and boredom leads to annoyance.]

(keeps using whatever post format you like, I'm just miserable at adjusting >_>)
She didn't really understand the whole thing until she got there, coming through a portal halfway across the country from where Ed had entered. It took a full two weeks of hitchhiking and panhandling to get her to where her granduncle said to be - which was hard when you were initially clad in leather and chain maille. Fortunately her glamours still worked or she'd be in deep shit.
So it was that on Ed's third day but Roze's sixth month that the two crossed paths again. Even without the natural magnetism of two Chosen, she would have sensed the little mage a mile away. Instead of what more conventional couples might have done, rushing towards each other, Roze stood there in her medieval fantasy armor, pink hair in dozens of free-falling plaits, and smirked smugly, fists on her hips and chest jutting forward.
"Well well, look who finally decided to show up..." she drawled, arching a brow and flashing her teeth in a grin. She'd been mad before, but seeing the gloomy expression of frustration was punishment enough. He hadn't enjoyed his stay so why make it worse?
"You have any idea what I had to go through to find you? I ate haggis. It tasted like regret."
how the fuck did i not get this notif. /kicks journal.
[When his response comes, it's with a face that's positively sulky.]
I got here as fast as I could, and all of a sudden my magic isn't working. If you wanna shove haggis down my throat for it, that's fine.
Stupid barrier. Most powerful mage in an entire dimension and I still can't figure out how to break the thing.

"If your magic isn't working then work around it. Learn to be a normal dweeb for like five minutes and don't kill yourself overthinking it. Shit, Ed, I didn't have my abilities my whole life. People manage. We'll get you out of here and somewhere your magic does function. I mean unless magic is a euphemism for your libido, I don't know why you've gotta pout about it."
No sympathy, man. None. You didn't acknowledge her badassery.

[...fantasy style armor. Still as magical as ever. Plaited hair. Dammit.]
And holy poop you look like someone out of one of my novels. That's not fair. You can't hit me like that when I'm having a bad day.

Should I leave you and your magical barrier to it, then? You're obviously mu~ch more interested in it, yeah? I can always find my way home by myself. I've done a pretty good job getting here.

Sorry, it's just... Anyways. Sorry. I shouldn't be upset.
So uh. What've you been up to?
...Your armor looks cool.

Your lack of enthusiasm for my appearance in your time of need makes me sincerely uncomfortable in regards to our continued relationship. However, I'm willing to let it go this time because it's your magic and that's important to you. I guess I'd be pretty teed off if I suddenly lost the ability to fight or something. Which is like...pretty unrealistic when you think about it, and probably why I like fisticuffs more than finger-wiggling, but whatever.
So. [She huffs a sigh and strolls closer, leaning down to bury her nose in his hair, inhaling deeply before leaning away and fixing him with a curious look. ] What's the issue? Barrier got you down? Why not just hop off-world through another portal and cross your fingers you get dealt a better card next time?
Also yeah my armor looks cool. Duh. I'm wearing it. Anything I wear looks cool.

I just can't teleport through worlds on my own anymore... and this barrier thing is resistant to everything I can throw at it. And nobody 'round here seems to even know it exists...
[He moves after her, wrapping his arms around her waist and cramming his face against her--only to remember the whole 'armor' thing and wind up rubbing his nose with a hand.]
Maybe we should move on, but I don't really like it when I leave a challenge unbeaten. It's like it's taunting me, y'know?

Maybe it is. I mean, I've seen a lot of weird stuff these last few months. I'm willing to believe in fully sentient magic these days. But what are you even going to do if you figure it out? [She asks, pacing forward and reaching out, waving both gloved hands to see if there's anything she can physically connect with. ] Like, are the people suffering? Is there some kind of war you need to stop. Or start? What's the sense in gettin' riled up over it?

[No matter, he would have other chances, and it's been foreeever since he's seen her last. He beams brightly at her even despite the mild crushing. It's just like... more affection than other people give, is all!]
[The barrier is quite tangible, and feels somewhere between unbreakable and completely unbreakable. The thing is a hell of a barrier, by any standards.]
Um... it's more... erm. [He laughs sheepishly. There isn't a way to make this sound good, and he knows it.]
I don't like being told 'no,' when it comes to something I'm passionate about.

All this time spent staring at a wall and wanting to walk through it JUST because it's a wall is kinda childish, babe. Especially when you can turn around, walk the other way and go out the door. This isn't your world, so why worry about the barrier?
Is there a war going on where millions of people are oppressed? [ She asks, looking around with an exaggerated searching expression before gazing down at him and shrugging. ]
I don't see any oppressed masses begging for deliverance. We're not heroes, babe. We're around for the sake of balance, and where we belong, that's doin' alright. This place here is just gonna hold you back. But if you insist on staying, I mean...I'll help however I can. Just don't expect me to like it. You know I find magic theory boring as fuck outside of a practice and test context.
