Maraich hopped over the counter and started pulling out drawers. Pliers, screwdriver... Nothing big, but he did pull out the screwdriver, leaning over the counter to look where the other man went.
"Hey," he called out, "Got something to start you off with."
He set it down on the counter and went back to searching. Not a great weapon, but a screwdriver to the head was better than nothing. He didn't appear to be a martial artist, so it was better not to leave him unarmed.
That's when he noticed a display with a long, metal bar holding it up. Not perfect, but it might do. He slipped out and started tearing apart the display to get the bar by itself. It was several feet long, a little awkward to hold but perhaps thin and firm enough to get some good ramming speed. It was just a matter of aiming it well so that it didn't bounce back. He took it back to the vending machine, carefully lining up the end with the bottom corner to hit it right.
