Aoba respected the fact that Declan had to think about it and sat quietly, patient. It wouldn’t have fit the Guardian’s character if he’d agreed right away but—Aoba still found himself happy when his friend ultimately did. It brought greater warmth to his own smile, imagining the big man with him on the District streets. If he couldn’t make friends here, Aoba could introduce him to Koujaku and the rest of Benishigure, for starters. Maybe they were a kind of rowdy bunch at times, but Declan would totally fit with the gang when they were helping the elderly and lost children….
