Aura fails when you’re sufficiently distracted or nobody in this series would ever be caught by surprise, and, after all, there is no ill intent the Latios’s approach. It’s not a soulless Grimm, for one, and this Pokémon-filled forest is absolutely rife with souls, like some sort of Aural white noise. Or something.

Magnolia has promptly calmed down after sensing no hostility from the creature himself—only…a sort of vague curiosity of a kind. Ren, looking from this newcomer to his empty frying pan to Nora, looks a touch put upon. Then the Latias emerges from behind Nora, and of course, Ren’s first instinct is to alert her—

“Nora!” He’s pointing at it with his spatula.
