Even without Ghost's help Uldren had been able to figure out what was going on, more or less anyway. If nothing else, he recognized his own smug smile on the elf's face. So the kid was twisting Mac up with teasing, good for him! It was amusing to watch them actually, and once he had the translation, it was even funnier.
